As Senior Vice-President and General Counsel for Silverstein Properties, Inc., Jonathan Knipe is the company’s chief legal officer and the corporate secretary to the Board of Directors. Mr. Knipe works within all of the company’s departments on a wide range of matters, including SPI’s new development projects, acquisitions, joint ventures, financing, management and leasing. In addition, one of Mr. Knipe’s primary responsibilities is managing the legal and business aspects of SPI’s efforts to rebuild the World Trade Center site.
Prior to joining SPI at the beginning of 2006, Mr. Knipe was General Counsel for Fisher Brothers, a New York City based real estate development, finance, construction and management company with a commercial office portfolio exceeding 7,500,000 square feet, and several projects under development. In addition to heading up the legal department, Mr. Knipe handled day to day leasing, management and real estate development matters while at Fisher Brothers.
Before Fisher Brothers, Mr. Knipe was a Vice-President for the Related Companies where he was a key member of the team that successfully completed the Time Warner Center on Columbus Circle, a $1.7 billion mixed-use, “mega-project” that includes the world headquarters for Time Warner, Inc.; over 500,000 square feet of high end retail; luxury residential condominiums; a Mandarin Oriental hotel; commercial office space and the performance space for Jazz at Lincoln Center.
Mr. Knipe began his career at Battle Fowler LLP as an attorney in their commercial real estate department and he continued at Paul Hastings LLP after that firm acquired Battle Fowler. He is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University and Widener University School of Law. Jon resides in lower Manhattan with his wife and two sons.
