The real estate program at Penn State is very pleased to note that our most recent Ph.D. student, Moussa Diop, graduated on August 10, 2013 and will be a new assistant professor of real estate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Diop’s dissertation is titled “Real Estate, Industry Structure and Shareholder Value” and was supervised by Dr. Brent Ambrose, Smeal Professor of Real Estate. While at Penn State, Dr. Diop taught courses in real estate finance, analysis of real estate markets, and real estate capital markets. Before entering the Ph.D. program at Penn State, Dr. Diop was a vice president of corporate banking and structured trade finance at HSBC Bank. He also worked as a senior consultant at Ernst & Young. Dr. Diop’s placement at the University of Wisconsin, one of the top real estate programs in the world, is further evidence of the growing reputation for academic excellence in real estate at Penn State. Dr. Diop joins a tradition of Penn State trained scholars in real estate at leading institutions around the world, such as MIT, UNC, and National University of Singapore, among others.
