Amazing Interviews…in a Bad Way
Friday, March 11th, 2011
Every hiring manager and admissions professional has experienced interviews that are literally unimaginable. From the candidate who swears so loudly and so much that your colleague says, “Excuse me, but did I hear ‘cussing’ in there?” to the candidate who holds the webcam throughout the interview such that the only visual is of a shaking eyeball.
Whether it’s an MBA or a job interview, all the same rules apply.
- Dress for success. Wear a suit.
- Prepare. Think of all the questions you’d ask someone before hiring/accepting them. Have your answers ready.
- Use the STAR format to answer questions. If you don’t know it, Google it and practice.
- “Unexpected” and “memorable” can be good or bad. Think about how another would perceive your actions in a professional setting.
